Preferred Health Systems selects AnyWare Group's Internet-based chronic disease management solution

MyCareAnyWare secure collaborative communication platform provides personalized care experience, encourages proactive health management

Saint John, NB - March 29, 2007 - AnyWare Group, a leading provider of customer-driven access solutions, announced today that Preferred Health Systems, the second largest health plan in Kansas, has selected Anyware Group's MyCareAnyWare Internet-based chronic disease management solution to help plan administrators better manage their members' chronic diseases, monitor their progress, and encourage more proactive self-care.

Chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiac disease, congestive heart failure, obesity and depression affect a patient's physical, emotional and mental well-being. Unfortunately, many patients facing such diseases often find little motivation to change behaviors. With MyCareAnyWare, Preferred Health Systems' plan members can easily update their health status, submit medical data and ask questions conveniently and securely. In turn, Preferred Health Systems' plan administrators can monitor and analyze patient information, provide feedback, conduct risk assessments, work with patients to set realistic goals, chart their progress, and deliver education information from the company's health library. The result is a more disciplined, proactive health management regime for improved quality of life.

"When patients with chronic diseases take an active role in their own care, their outcomes improve," said Dr. Jill Sumfest, Chief Medical Officer, Preferred Health Systems. "Standard approaches to disease management have included call coaching and direct mail pieces, but a secure Internet-based solution like MyCareAnyWare offers an innovative way to engage members where and when it's convenient for them."

MyCareAnyWare is an interactive chronic disease management solution enabling patients to control their health by securely accessing select medical files and disease education resources via an Internet connection. Through this connection, the patient can update their health status, while core hospital teams can monitor and analyze this information, provide feedback, and alert the relevant physician if they detect a problem. MyCareAnyWare also enables patients to access a specialized chat room where they can exchange valuable information, such as diabetic recipes and exercise regimes, with other patients.

" According to the World Health Organization, chronic diseases are the major cause of death and disability worldwide and are projected to account for 89 per cent of all deaths in Canada," said Gerry Verner, Chief Executive Officer, AnyWare Group. "Unfortunately, many patients facing such disease often find little motivation to change behaviors. With MyCareAnyWare, Preferred Health Systems now has a secure collaborative communication platform in place to provide a full personalized care experience that encourages better health management and, ultimately, improves customer service."
