NBIF Makes $500,000 Venture Capital Investment in Anyware Group
June 15, 2004 — Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada — The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF) has made a $500,000 venture capital investment in AnyWare Group Inc., a Saint John information and communications technology company developing a secure online remote-access management system.
The investment was announced today by Premier Bernard Lord, NBIF Chairman Warren McKenzie and AnyWare Group CEO Gerry Verner.
“AnyWare Group is a successful and well-run company, and this investment by the NBIF fits in perfectly with our commitment to invest in people,” Lord said. “It is through investing in some of the best and brightest New Brunswickers and companies like this today, that we will develop our innovation leaders of tomorrow.”
AnyWare Group is developing a fully managed network identity and access management system for the global marketplace to allow secure, remote access to corporate information systems, providing a high degree of control over who can access the systems and what they can do once they are granted access.
“This is another excellent example of how the NBIF is investing in innovative New Brunswick companies,” McKenzie said. “This investment is the largest single venture capital investment to-date by the NBIF and it shows our confidence in the future success and growth of Anyware Group.”
The NBIF will provide the AnyWare group with the necessary capital it needs to take its products to market, and will also provide business expertise and support by appointing a member to the company’s board of directors.
Since its inception in 1999, AnyWare Group has been developing and delivering technology solutions to companies located throughout the world. The company will use the NBIF investment to fully develop and commercialize its new access management system.
“I want to thank the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation not only for their financial support and for the business expertise they will bring to the table, but also for the faith they have shown in our company,” Verner said. “We believe AnyWare Group has a very promising future, and that future is even brighter today thanks to our partnership with the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation.”
The NBIF is an independent corporation, established to help build the province's innovation capacity. The foundation makes targeted and leveraged investments in innovation and in research and development in New Brunswick.
